The Return of Michael Vick #potsc

I've never been a fan of Michael Vick.

Mostly because of the year I had him as my fantasy football quarterback and never lived up to his potential. 

Also because of a playoff game where he beat my Packers. 

But all along I've thought of him as a bad guy.  I heard stories of his bad behavior and thought of him as a guy who really didn't deserve all the fame he was receiving.  When the news about his dog fighting came out, I hoped he would be punished for it.

And he was.

He served 18 months of a 23 month sentence in federal prison.  He declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  He was suspended by the NFL and released by the Atlanta Falcons.

But now he is getting a second chance.  He is being mentored by Tony Dungy and has been signed by the Philadelphia Eagles.  He has the chance to prove himself to be a good guy.

He has a lot that he has to live with, and no matter what mistakes he's made in the past, if he is truly sorry, and seeks to change his ways, I think that Michael Vick should have the chance to learn from the past and move on.

I hope he does it.

Watson Turns Back the Clock

I really enjoyed watching Tom Watson play well at the British Open, having a 10 foot putt to win in on the last hole of regulation.  Frank Deford tells a great story about it:

"So, on Sunday, as I watched on television, here came Watson down the final fairway at Turnberry . . . one up, exactly like back in '77. His tee-shot was straight. I couldn't tell how far away he was, but I remembered Alfie (Watson's caddie in 1977.) I knew Tom's adrenalin was pumpin' again. To myself, I thought: whatever club you'd normally use, go one less. He hit a beautiful shot, straight at the flag, but it was too strong and it went over the back of the green. He bogied and lost the lead and then the tournament."

I like the comment I heard on ESPN radio this morning from Colin Cowherd (paraphrased): "Terrell Owens is like a Red Bull at 2 in the morning.  At first it's a real shot in the arm, but two hours later you're a mess and worse off than you were before."

Of those eight, only 2 teams that won beat an opponent that had been there before

Of the 19 teams that lost their first appearance, only two failed to win in their second appearance (Buffalo and San Diego)

SO, the odds were against the Cardinals winning this one, BUT THEY ARE VIRTUALLY GUARANTEED A VICTORY NEXT TIME!!!!!!!
