San Francisco - Boudin's Bakery

No trip to Fisherman's Wharf would be complete without clam chowder in a sourdough breadbowl at Boudin's Bakery.  That's how we finished out our time there.  Or, if you prefer, how about a giant sourdough clam?

San Francisco - Napa Valley

We spent last Saturday in Napa Valley. 

We weren't sure what to expect, and frankly, except for finding some fall colors and the Outlet Mall, we could have had just as much fun staying in S.F. and finding the "Full House" house.

We're not into wine tastings, so looking back, I'm thinking, duh, what did you expect in Wine Country?

But here's the Andretti Winery.  While we were there, a Ferrari came up the drive and one of the workers hurried out to see it.  When she came back she explained that she thought it might be Mario. It wasn't.

San Francisco - Menlo Park Presbyterian

On Sunday LG and I went to Menlo Park Presbyterian Church and got to hear John Ortberg preach.  It neat to see an established church doing some progressive things, yet holding on to traditions that make it special, like greeting at the door on the way out.

San Francisco - The Golden Gate Bridge

The traffic was a killer, but we wouldn't have missed the Golden Gate bridge, the views of the city, and the time spent just viewing it all.

It was definitely a highlight of the trip!

San Francisco - Off the grid

On our trip to the City by the Bay-e-yay (oh, oh, oh-oh-oh), we talked about whether we should bring our laptops.

I, of course, said yes, we should, in case we wanted to look up something.  I

I certainly had no intentions of checking any email, tweets or fantasy football.

I saw this on the hotel website, so I thought we had access:

 

But it turned out that you had to pay $9.99 a day to have it.

Since I had already had to pay $34.00 for parking in a garage for 3 1/2 hours, I was convicted about not spending any money I didn't have to.

But it was all good. 

It let me spend my time on more important things:

San Francisco - Fisherman's Wharf

After the Cable Cars, we headed to Fisherman's Wharf to scope out where we were going to eat later.  I knew that clam chowder was in my future!

The Blue Angels were practicing for a weekend airshow.  Look reeeeaaaallllly closely.

San Francisco - My $34.00 Mistake

After we rode the cable cars, we went back to get our car out the the Stockton-Sutter parking garage to head to Fisherman's Wharf.

I never take my parking garage ticket with me.

This time I did.

So, of course, I couldn't find it.  I think it flew out of my pocket while riding the cable cars.

Or maybe not.

So, parking cost me $34.00, instead of $9.00.

That's $25 more.

But I didn't let it bother me.

I didn't even think about all the things I could have bought for $25.00.

San Francisco - Cable cars

After Chinatown, we headed over to the cable cars and rode hanging on to the outside. 

 

 

We were amazing that no one told us to sit down and put our seatbelts on!
