Interesting thought from Mike Foster: Hitler didn't break the rules, but the Founding Fathers did.

Finally In!

We finally got into our new house last week!

  • It was great to have so much help from friends who showed with trucks and trailers and two wheelers and muscle.  At times I couldn't keep up with the stuff going out!
  • We even had a neighbor by our new house introduce himself and start unloading!
  • It's sooooo nice having a three car garage!
  • LG's parents have been a huge help by fixing up some things, changing out faucets and getting done the things that you want to do first but are busy moving boxes to do them.
  • DirectTV has too many channels.
  • Courtney has a bedroom with a closet, which is an upgrade from the office she was sleeping in.
  • We'll let you know when the first party is!

The Windows 7 Taskbar

I've been using the Windows 7 beta, and one of the features I like the best is the Windows 7 taskbar.

Taskbar

It has your quick launch programs, plus shows you which programs you have open.  When you mouse over a program that has multiple windows open, it will show you thumbnails of the open windows.  When you mouse over a thumbnail, it will show you the window that is open as well as make the other windows transparent.  Very cool!!!!

Mouse over

Random Notes from the Gibson household

Just some things that are going on with us right now:

  • Should be moving into our new house by the end of next week.  I'm very anxious to get this done!
  • Courtney got a new car, a Dodge Caliber.  She's very excited and happy to drive something that doesn't have leather seats.
  • Meagan's not so happy about driving a car with leather seats.  We traded in her broken Saturn on the Caliber.
  • My Expedition is still broken down.  Trying to figure out how much good money to throw after bad.
  • Both Courtney and Meagan got to spend last weekend in Mexico and had a great time.
  • Laurie's parents have been visiting us from North Carolina.  I'm glad they've had some decent weather while they're here.
  • Laurie spent last week at camp with the 4-6th graders.  It was a Central/CCV group that was there, CCV doing the teaching and Central doing the music.  I got to go on Wednesday and had a great time.
  • Kelsey's been taking a summer course on online for Mountain View.  Summer school has changed a lot since I was a kid.
  • Justin started his summer camp in Chandler last week.  He went there last year and had a great experience.  They do a great job.
  • Our friends, the Von Thadens, are supposed to be here on Wednesday.  It'll be good to see them.

Who wants a free Macbook?

Freemac

Apparently I have a different definition of free.  Mine isn't "sign up for two offers that you pay money for and if you cancel within 13 days we won't charge your credit card $69.99 monthly plus 9.99 shipping and handling with product to follow until we discover some other way to take your money.  Then just get five friends to sign up for three offers, and have each of your five friends sign up five friends for three offers and after the people that you've signed up give us $2000 then we give you A FREE MACBOOK!!!!!"

Ephesians 1:5-6  "In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves."

There's no fine print.

But at least my teeth are whiter.

Central Announces the Opening of Two New Campuses

On Tuesday night at the Mesa campus, and on Wednesday night at the Gilbert campus, Cal announced that Central Christian Church will open two new campuses by fall of 2010.

Faced with packed facilities on Sunday mornings at the Gilbert campus, which is running 4000 after only being open since October of 2007, a new campus will open this fall at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert, only one half mile from the Gilbert campus.  This new campus will offer two services on Sunday mornings, a contemporary service at 9:30 and Third Format at 11:00.  Student and children's programming will be offered at both.  Fish taco aficionado Aaron Pennington will be the campus pastor. The teaching will be via video at 9:30 and in person with Jeremy at 11:00.

Thanks to our ARENA database, we recently discovered that over 3,300 from Queen Creek have attended Central, making Central the largest church in Queen Creek not in Queen Creek.  So in the fall of 2010, the Queen Creek campus will open on the campus of Newell Barney Middle School (home of the Buccaneers).

Want to help launch Campo Verde?  I'm taking names now and serving opportunities will be on the website soon!
